New single “ASAKUSA MAIRI” is out now!

We’ve just released ASAKUSA MAIRI, a modern arrangement of the ‘HAUTA’ ASAKUSA MAIRI, which evokes the lively spirit of Asakusa!

This dance tune, inspired by the traditional Asakusa Mairi that has been sung since the Edo period, is guaranteed to get you hyped up!

Oshale Japan will produce the special stage performance 'Asakusa Oiran Parade' featuring Taishu Engeki -a genre of popular theater, Asakusa Kaguwa, and Seiko Kitagawa, to be held on Saturday, December 7th.

    - Henmen -

    Henmen is a captivating traditional performance in which masks change in the blink of an eye.
    This astonishing technique has long been embraced in Japanese popular theater, mesmerizing countless audiences with its speed, precision, and dramatic flair.
    Henmen features a variety of mask expressions, showcasing traditional Japanese characters such as fierce demons, cheerful Okame, and wise old men.
    Henmen invites you into a world of illusion and wonder.

    - Folding fan -

    Folding fan is an essential prop in traditional Japanese dances, such as Kabuki and Japanese traditional dance.
    It captivates the audience with various displays, such as spinning and tossing. Additionally, performances using the fan express uniquely Japanese values, such as nature, the seasons, and the grace of women, making it a true artistic symbol of Japanese culture.

    - Sword fighting (woman) -

    Sword fighting is a traditional Japanese action performance using Samurai-style swords, commonly seen in theater and films.
    Each beautifully executed, dynamic movement and sword play evokes the image of a real samurai to the audience. Sword fighting goes beyond the scope of action.
    It embodies the values of Bushido, Samurai code of chivalry, and even reflects aspects of Japanese cultural life that have been passed down through generations.

    Even today, the Oiran's influence continues to be passed down through events like the extravagant 'Oiran Parade,' where these women walk the streets in luxurious attire.
